Ask us anything

The concierge answers strictly from Starla’s published rule set — it will never make an earnings claim, negotiate a fee, or confirm territory availability as a commitment.

Investment & fees
What is the total investment?+

Indicatively ₹8–10 Cr, comprising fit-out (₹1.6–2.4 Cr) and opening inventory (₹4.8–6.2 Cr), alongside the ₹1L application fee and ₹40L refundable security deposit.

Is there a franchise fee?+

No franchise fee for programme Years 1–2 signings — grandfathered for the full term. Ongoing charges are royalty (5%), marketing fund (2%), and technology fee (1%, floor ₹40,000/month), all on Net Revenue.

Is the security deposit refundable?+

Yes, refundable subject to true-up at exit, per the terms in your Letter of Intent and the Deposit/Escrow Terms Letter.

How is financing handled?+

Typically 50–60% of inventory is bank-financed. Starla provides a project-finance pack and an approved-lender panel. Starla never guarantees partner debt.

Are the published figures binding?+

No — they are planning-grade ranges so only well-matched candidates apply. Binding terms appear only in the Stage 7 disclosure pack and franchise agreement.

Can I negotiate the fees?+

No. Starla does not negotiate fees — every partner signs the same published structure. That consistency is part of what protects the network you are buying into.

What does the technology fee cover?+

The full in-house stack: Infinity store management and ERP, the integrated POS, the Build a Ring platform, the AI copilots, and the monthly Starla-prepared P&L service.

How are payments collected?+

The application fee and security deposit are collected by direct bank transfer with a reference (UTR) you submit in your candidate portal; Starla's finance team reconciles each payment and your portal shows the status.

Inventory & pricing
Do I own the inventory?+

Yes. Inventory is partner-owned, purchased from Starla at the lowest possible transfer cost, serialized, and covered by a rotation programme and a published exit buyback formula.

Who sets retail prices?+

Starla's pricing engine sets every price centrally. There is no manual pricing anywhere in the system — this protects your margin from discount wars.

What happens to slow-moving stock?+

Slow-moving serialized stock is exchangeable under the rotation programme's published swap terms — your capital never just sits.

Is there an exit path for my inventory?+

Yes. A published buyback formula for conforming serialized stock exists; the formula itself is disclosed in the Stage 7 disclosure pack.

Are the diamonds certified?+

Every diamond Starla sells is a certified lab-grown diamond, graded on the same 4Cs as mined stones.

Territory
What territories are open?+

Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are opening now. See the Territories page for live availability by city.

Is territory exclusive?+

You get a protected radius (3 km urban / 5 km non-metro) with a pre-agreed compensation formula for encroachment within 1.5× that radius.

My city isn't listed — can I still apply?+

Yes. Signed-in candidates can suggest a territory directly on the Territories page — pin the location on the map and tell us why it fits. Every suggestion is reviewed by the team.

What is Pipeline Mode?+

Enrolment now reserves your territory for 12 months while the network builds toward its next proving store. Your deposit sits in an escrow-style account, refundable in full if the window doesn't open.

The journey
How long does the journey take?+

Roughly 150–180 days across ten gated stages, Enquire through Open. No gate is ever skipped.

How do I apply?+

Start at starlajewels.com/franchise/apply. It takes about ten minutes; your mobile number is OTP-verified before submission.

What happens after I enquire?+

A Franchise Development Executive calls to discuss capital, territory, and owner-operator fit. If both sides want to proceed, your candidate portal account is provisioned for the Apply stage.

Will I meet the founders?+

Yes — Stage 5 is the Founders' Meet, including an immersion day inside a working Starla store (NDA e-signed beforehand).

What is the cooling period?+

After the full disclosure pack is released, a structurally unskippable 14-day cooling period runs before the franchise agreement can be executed. It exists so you decide with a clear head.

Can I skip stages if I'm well capitalized?+

No. Every stage is a gate, applied the same way for every candidate. That discipline is why a Starla franchise is worth owning.

Do I need jewellery experience?+

The programme is built around an owner-operator and the systems do the heavy lifting — Founder School certification, the hiring toolkit, and the copilots exist precisely so a disciplined first-time jeweller can run a conforming store.

Technology
What technology is included?+

The full in-house stack Starla runs its own stores on: Infinity (store management + ERP), an integrated POS, the Build a Ring custom design platform, AI owner/store copilots, and the centralized pricing engine.

What is Build a Ring?+

Starla's custom design platform: customers design a ring in real-time 3D, see an AI-generated photorealistic render, and place a made-to-order purchase tracked through production, QC and dispatch.

Do I need my own IT staff?+

No. The stack is delivered and maintained by Starla under the technology fee; your portal, POS and copilots come configured for your store.

What do the AI copilots actually do?+

They draft the daily trade brief, answer P&L questions from your own store's data, and turn every SOP into a working checklist — for the owner and the store team respectively.

Operations & support
What support do I get after opening?+

A named Franchise Business Consultant, Founder School certification, a hiring toolkit, a monthly Starla-prepared P&L, and AI copilots for the owner and the store.

What is Founder School?+

An 8-week certification curriculum. Completing it is a precondition to opening, and every team member is certified before floor access. Recertification is ongoing.

How does hiring work?+

You hire to the format staffing model with Starla's toolkit: requisitions, a five-gate funnel tracker, question banks, scorecards, and offer templates.

How is my store's performance reviewed?+

Your Franchise Business Consultant runs structured monthly-visit reports and quarterly business review packs, benchmarked against the network.

Who builds the store?+

You build on an approved site only, to Starla's standard design kit, with a handover audit and security certification as preconditions to stock delivery.

How does the opening work?+

Soft open, then grand opening, then a 100-day nurture programme guided by your Opening Copilot.

Marketing
How does marketing work?+

A 2% of Net Revenue marketing fund runs brand and local marketing, and your first 100 days follow a structured nurture programme guided by the Opening Copilot.

Can I run my own promotions?+

Pricing is central and non-negotiable — no store-level discounting exists in the system. Local marketing runs within brand standards, coordinated with your Franchise Business Consultant.
